It is very important that you choose the right one so that it doesn’t leave you regretted in the end. House Paints come in various forms, select the right one is extremely difficult.

Follow these guidelines below when selecting the interior paint for your house painting venture:
  1. First of all select the wall I your house you want to be painted and the color that you want to give to these walls. The type of paint will differ as per the requirement of the wall. Make a list of your painting ideas by keeping various things in mind like lightning, the darkness in that area, etc. Some paints are expensive to buy, so you should also make a proper planning before buying the paint you want.
  2. Now decide whether you want to apply oil paint or latex paint on the interior. Latex is water based paint while oil paint is an alkyd based used for interior painting of doors and trim. Oil paints are more durable and smooth, but latex paints are usually more used in the house painting. When selecting an interior paint, look for water marks on the walls or ceilings.

A paint primer is used in places where there is fire to avoid nicotine stains to drain from the walls. The primer is used before applying the paint on the walls. Primer is used to disguise water stains, as well as crayon, or pencil marks in kids’ rooms.
  4. To give your house a shiny look you can use eggshell or satin sheen house paints. These paint finishes can be used in areas which are visible on entering the house to give it an attractive look. These shiny paint finishes are not recommended on plaster walls, as it will highlight the flaws of that wall.
  5. The ceiling of the house has to have a different paint finish altogether. You can choose a flat paint finish for the ceiling of the walls of every room that is bright and has an evident ceiling during the daytime.

Paint, as you know, makes the most dramatic change for the money. Be bold, be daring and most importantly — don’t do white! Choose a complex color. To create a festive mood try to use Christmas ornaments on any open wall

Great general tips! Also, now many home stores let you buy small samples of certain colors for a few dollars. You can put it on the wall and watch it throughout the day to see how the different light affects it. Natural light and artificial light, from lamps and over head lighting, will change the wall color drastically.
